New Project

Published by Laura under Artsy-Crafty

I am so thrilled about my new ribbon! I ran across it yesterday at my LYS and could not pass it up. I already have a project casted on and am loving it. I am knitting a shoulder wrap. The colors in the ribbon are making the wrap beautiful. The neat thing about the pattern I am using is that the wrap is self-fringing. I am not always a fan of fringe, but I think it will look good on this project. I am thinking I will have to go back and get the other few skeins my LYS had because I can tell I am going to want to make another wrap (for myself this time)!

Take Me Back Tuesday

Published by Laura under Take Me Back Tuesday

When I was a child, this was my favorite movie! I would yell for my mom to come sit with me during the “monkey part” because it scared me she liked the monkey part so much.

Here are some neat Wizard of Oz pieces on Etsy.

Heat Relief

Well, summer temperatures have officially hit! It has been too hot to enjoy being outside (in my opinion). It’s even too hot to go to the pool! The water is so warm I feel like I’m in a giant bathtub in public. That’s not such a refreshing feeling.

We escaped the heat for a little over an hour this weekend when we went here:

It was really beautiful and 45 DEGREES COOLER than it was outside. Such nice relief.

Last night Richard and I decided (well actually I decided and he agreed) we needed a little treat. Remember I told you I went to visit my family last weekend? Well, one of my aunts reminded me of a special treat that I just had to have:

So yummy. I may even have a Purple Cow for breakfast. I’m still on summer vacation you know.

Southern Comfort

Published by Laura under Home is Where the Heart is

Last week I went to visit my family and I had to stop and snap these pictures. To me, the farmland is so beautiful. It is a different kind of pretty, but I am completely mezmorized by the beauty of the crops in our state in almost every season! The cotton is in bloom right now and the blossoms are absolutely gorgeous.

Days Gone By

Published by Laura under Home is Where the Heart is

The elderly lady who lived next to us in my hometown had a beautiful yard full of dogwoods. She was actually featured in Southern Living magazine once. She and my mom were the best of friends and our family loved and helped take care of her. Today was her birthday. She passed away 7 years ago and it’s funny how I sometimes have to stop myself before asking Mom how Mrs.Coleman is doing.

Baby Sweater

Published by Laura under Artsy-Crafty

I am now working on my first ever baby sweater. I am moving along quickly on it and would be even farther along had I not misinterpreted some instructions today. I had to rip out quite a bit, but I learned a lesson for next time, so it didn’t bother me! I am knitting this sweater in a merino/acrylic/cashmere blend. It is really soft and I went for a yarn with a touch of acrylic so the garment will be washable!

Off the Vine

Published by Laura under What's For Dinner?

I love tomatoes! My motto is typically “Why mess up a good tomato with bacon and lettuce?”, but this time I opted to indulge just a little! In the summertime, a good B.L.T. is hard to beat!

I lined the hats!

Published by Laura under Artsy-Crafty

These are the first hats I have ever lined and I am really pleased with how the lining turned out. This fleece will be so soft and warm on the little baby heads!
