A Necessary Purchase
After spending a week in 2+ feet of snow with no waterproof shoes, these are on their way to my house.

This is what I have learned about parking garages:
1. Try to park your car in the same spot every time. Believe it or not, it can be very difficult to remember where your car is parked.
2. If you cannot do #1, go to the level you think you parked your car on. Press your panic button to sound your car alarm. If the alarm is very loud, you’re on the correct level. If it’s a faint sound, go to the next level.
3. Regardless of how cute you look in your sunglasses, do not under any circumstances wear them in the parking garage. It is dark enough in there as it is.
4. If you have an old car you don’t know what to do with, just take it to the nearest parking garage and park it on the lowest level. You will never have to come back for it.
5. Always drive with your lights on in the parking garage. This makes it less likely that you will get hit by another car.

So far since I got home from work, all I have done is take Olivia for a walk. We walked for 3.58 miles, so hopefully she will be fairly subdued tonight.
Still to do:
1. Eat leftover cheese dip for supper.
2. Watch Mary Tyler Moore (or Andy Griffith–just whatever I’m in the mood for).
3. Read my latest issue of Real Simple magazine.
4. Knit.
5. Perfect the ratio of candy corn to peanuts.
As you can see, I’m swamped.

I thought of something interesting about birthdays in our family:
My mom and mother-in-law were born in the same month.
My dad, father-in-law and sister-in-law were born in the same month.
My brother and brother-in-law were born in the same month.
Richard and I were born in the same month.
What are the chances of this happening??? I will probably be pondering this all day!

May I have your permission to rant and rave just for a moment? I promise it will only take a minute. Thank you.
What is with these people posting pictures of their bare pregnant bellies all over the Internet? They put them on their blogs and all over Facebook. Come on, mommies-to-be! No one wants to see your naked pregnant belly. I am not saying an expectant mother isn’t a beautiful thing, but let’s have some modesty here. Take the pictures for yourself to have the memory of what you looked like and then keep it to yourself--or at least have some clothes on in the pictures you post. We don’t want to see your belly!!!!!!
I made my college roommate promise me she would never, ever, ever post pictures of her unclothed pregnant belly (she is not expecting) on the internet for all to see. I promised the same to her (I am also not expecting). I hope if I ever got crazy and broke that promise that she would hack into my account and delete the pictures.
UGH. Ok. I’m done.
Thank you. I feel much better.

I’m sorry I haven’t been a very good blogger. Richard is home and we’ve been busy eating at all of our favorite places and packing (and packing and packing and packing). I have a lot of pictures to post of our school’s field day and of course of Olivia, too. This is going to be a very hectic week for us, but hopefully after school is out I can get back into blogging more regularly.

Today is the 5th day of the 5th month, so I thought I’d post 5 random things.
1. I found a unifix cube in the cuff of my pants today.
2. I think a lot about what I could paint on a canvas, but I’ve only actually done it a handful of times.
3. I haven’t run in a week.
4. I need to wash my sheets.
5. I have started polishing my fingernails an actual color instead of just clear/nude.

I think going to the grocery needs to be on the top of my “to do” list today! This is what my refrigerator has looked like for the past two weeks! I have had something almost every night and going grocery shopping has just not been a priority! This week won’t be nearly as busy. I think I only have something going on 2 nights this week! Yay for relaxation!

Sunday I was standing over the sink in my bathroom removing my nail polish. There was a box of baking soda on the cabinet and I started reading the different uses for the product that Arm&Hammer advertises on the side of the box. First of all I guess I should explain why the baking soda was in the bathroom to begin with. I brush my teeth every day with toothpaste and also with a baking soda/peroxide paste. Now back to the new uses for baking soda I learned about:
1. Mix baking soda with shampoo to remove build-up and get “fuller, more manageable” hair.
I don’t really need help in the “fuller” department, but I could definintely use some assistance with “more manageable”. I tried it out and I am happy to report my hair was indeed “more manageable.” I think it’s just something you’re supposed to do once a week, but that will give me something else to look forward to other than Purple Shampoo Day. Now I can also have Baking Soda Day.
2. After cleansing your face as you normally do, make a paste using water and baking soda and gently scrub over your face using a circular motion.
Oh my goodness. After doing this one time I want to do it every day! It is such a great exfoliant and it made my skin feel so soft!
What other great uses are there for baking soda that I don’t know about??
