I’m Back!

I cannot believe how long it has been since I have blogged! I’ve been
really busy this month and I am shocked that the month is halfway over
already!

This is what I’ve been up to in no particular order…

1. running/racing

2. knitting

3. Junior League

4. work

5. cooking/cleaning

That really doesn’t look like much when list it, but I have been going
non-stop since before Thanksgiving! It’s been fun, but I am ready for
things to slow down a bit, although I do not see that happening anytime
soon! Nevertheless, I’m going to do my best to blog more regularly
starting this week!

The bulldog in the picture with Olivia is her best friend, Chloe.

More Creativity in the Kitchen

This is week two of my attempt to be creative in the kitchen. Can I really call it creative though when I am using other people’s recipes? Whatever. I’m not going to get too picky about what to call it–I’m impressed that I’m cooking at all!

This week, I am using recipes from the Junior League of Little Rock’s newest cookbook, Big Taste of Little Rock. If you don’t have a copy already, I highly recommend the book. The photography is beautiful. Interesting facts or tips and also menu ideas for specific occasions (i.e. tailgate parties, league luncheons, etc.) are found throughout the book.

Here are the recipes from Big Taste of Little Rock I thought I’d test this week:

Island Salmon (p.113)

Hong Kong Chicken (p.103)

Red Beans and Rice (p.98)

Creole Barbecued Shrimp (p.118)

Holiday Casual Explained

Published by Laura under Junior League of Little Rock

I had a holiday party to go to tonight and the invitation said the attire for the party was “holiday casual.” I had no idea what that meant. I immediately invisioned myself sporting a pair of jeans and a stunningly tacky Christmas sweater. Before I showed up with bells on (literally) I decided I better do a little research to find out exactly what “holiday casual” attire actually means. According to Emily Post, “holiday casual” is the same as business casual except we’re apparently supposed to throw in a few holiday colors.

Who knew?
